Team Maywood

A Proven Record of ...

  • personally helping residents concerned about development projects that are happening in or near their neighborhoods.
  • revitalizing the municipal pool, Memorial Park & Pleasant Avenue.
  • expanding community events and supporting local businesses.
  • pursuing federal, state, and county grants to support much needed capital projects while minimizing the cost to taxpayers.
  • supporting Maywood’s Fire, Fire-Police, and Police Departments
  • spearheaded our Hometown Heroes veteran’s banner program.

Mayor Richard Bolan

Mayor Rich Bolan, a husband, father, and grandfather, has lived in Maywood for 15 years with his wife Eloise. He is a proud veteran of the US Air Force, a member of Maywood American Legion Post #142, and currently serves on the Bergen County Veteran’s Advisory Council. He studied at the Community College of the Air Force and the University of Hawaii. Rich completed the State of NJ Certified Public Manager’s program at Rutgers-Newark University School of Public Affairs and Administration.

Rich brings a wealth of knowledge from his long career in municipal government to the role of mayor. He is a Certified Zoning Officer who has served on Planning and Zoning Boards, Redevelopment Committees, and OEM in towns throughout Bergen County. As a Certified Flood Plain Manager, he has worked with FEMA, NJDEP, and multiple municipalities on flood issues and CRS programs. In 2017 he was named Local Floodplain Manager of the Year by NJAFPM. He is also a Construction Official, Building Subcode Official, and Electric Subcode Official and is currently employed by the Borough of Fair Lawn as their Construction Official.

Mayor Bolan is a proud champion of responsible development and has fought to protect Maywood from the overdevelopment happening in neighboring towns. He can often be seen around town with his favorite walking companion, Chester --- his beloved chocolate lab.

  • Ryan is committed to making Maywood a safer & healthier community by increasing safety for pedestrians, bike riders, and drivers. His dream is to create a bike path that will connect our community to Saddle River Park.
  • Ryan spearheaded efforts to bring cannabis businesses to Maywood to support local business and increase tax revenues that will be used for recreation programs and capital projects that will serve the entire community.

Councilman Ryan Ullman

Ryan Ullman was born and raised in Maywood and has served on the Maywood Council since 2017. He is currently a member of the Planning Board, Chair of the Personnel Committee, and a member of the DPW and Community Affairs Committees. A graduate of Maywood Avenue School and Hackensack High School, he holds a BA in History and Political Science from Rutgers University, an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Forbes School of Business, Ashford University, and a Masters in Administrative Science from FDU. A healthcare executive for over 20 years, Ryan is the Manager of the Office of Patient Experience at a local medical center where his primary role is to improve safety, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Ryan volunteers as an assistant coach for MYAA soccer and as a Sunday School teacher at a local parish. It has been Ryan’s distinct pleasure to serve on council with incredibly dedicated people, in both present and past administrations. He is seeking re-election to continue serving the town he loves. Ryan sees Maywood as a resilient, progressive, and ever-changing community that has never lost the small-town feel that draws so many to call it home.

Ryan loves spending time with his family and is a BIG music fan. If you run into Ryan around town, talk to him about his favorite band.... and the many concerts he has attended!
